About
Headway is a turn-based transit management sim: you step into the shoes of the CEO of a local public transport company, running its resources, fleet and lines in a setting — the city — that never stops changing. Behind the game is WantWonder, a small Italian studio.
The game is deep in development. In the meantime — partly for our own education — we built an engine that aggregates public transport news from around the world. It feeds us ideas every day, and it felt right to make it public: it is The Transit Office, the news section of this site.
How the stories are chosen
Every day an automated pipeline collects headlines from several hundred local outlets in more than a dozen languages. A language model reads the headlines and keeps the ones that are genuinely about urban public transport — not motorways, not aviation, not long-distance rail. A human then picks the stories that make it onto this page.
Each item is a short summary in our own words, with a link to the original report. We do not republish other outlets’ articles: the source is always named and always one click away, and we would rather send you there than keep you here.
Summaries are written with the help of a language model and reviewed before publication. If something is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
Languages
The game comes from Italy, but it is written in English and available in both languages. The news, too, comes in English and Italian: the English edition is the original, the Italian one a translation of the same stories. The links, though, lead to outlets all over the world — and to many different languages: your browser’s auto-translate will be put to the test!
